Scoutmaster Minute 2
Dear Webelos and Parents,
Rock climbing and fishing in Devil’s Lake Wisconsin, High Ropes course in Lake Geneva, camping at Indiana Dunes State Park and our annual Father-son winter campout at Camp Crown; these activities along with Cooking and Personal Management merit badges, Webelos Woods and our service projects have kept us busy these last few months. There’s still more to come, Broomball, our ski trip, Chicago Hike as well as our new scout campout and training program at Camp Lakota. In addition to these fun activities, Troop 50 is also proud of our ongoing service projects. Most recently we adopted a family of 6 for the holiday season and provided them with gifts, food and clothing.
We want our Troop to continue to grow and maintain its rich tradition. We have been a very successful and active Troop for 50 years in Deerfield. We are blessed to have St. Gregory’s Church support our Troop and provide us a place to meet every Wednesday at 7:30pm. The dynamics of Troop 50 are wonderful and offer an opportunity for young boys to learn and grow from the leadership of older boys.
Troop 50 has over 40 active Boy Scouts ranging from 6th grade through high school seniors. Ryan Miller is our current Senior Patrol Leader and is a sophmore at Deerfield High School. We are setup in three patrols with an Assistant Scoutmaster to work with the boys on advancement. As a group we work on at least one merit badge per quarter. The scouts run their meetings and events with adult supervision and leadership. All activities have the approval and support of a dedicated Adult Committee which is comprised of 8-10 volunteers of meet on a monthly basis.
Many of you were able to meet some of us at Webelos Woods or attend our annual Haunted House night at St. Gregory’s. Make no mistake about it…WE WANT YOU!!
We have planned a special night just for you, your parents and your fellow Webelos to give us a chance to tell you more about Troop 50.
Sincerely,
Scoutmaster
