Camp Session 3 - July 8-14, 2012 and Camp Session 4 - July 15-21 2012
Reminder on dates
- Troop 50 will be attending MKJW on Week 3 (July 8-14) and Week 4 (July 15-21).
- Deposits are due to Mike on Wednesday. The deposit is $50 per camp week. Balance of camp payment ($240) is due May 11th. Download the deposit sheet here.
High Adventure Treks
At last weeks Court of Honor we mentioned that there are 6 High Adventure Treks available for Troops. These all leave from and return to MKJW. If there is interest in this for the Troops 2nd week up at camp (which is actually Week 4 of camp and runs from July 15th through the 21st), let Mike Montgomery know right away.
We are trying to get someone from MKJW staff to attend circle up on Wednesday to answer any questions about this or other details on this years camp.
Here is some details on the Treks:
Apostle Islands - 5 day kayaking
Flambeau River - 3 to 4 day canoeing
Lake Superior - 3 to 4 day sailing
Pictured Rocks - 4 to 5 backpacking
Porcupine Mts - 4 to 5 backpacking
Sylvania Wilderness - 4 to 5 day canoeing
Bus
If you are planning on riding the bus we need to know that. Roundtrip cost is $100.
Merit Badges
Some new and exciting merit badges for this year include Composite Material, Geo-caching and Pulp & Paper. You should discuss what merit badges you intend to take with your Scout leaders well before you head to camp.
Adult Leader Training
The Council Training Committee offers Outdoor Skills Training during some of the weeks. Great chance to brush up on your outdoor skills. Also lots of opportunities to brush up on aquatic skills like Swimming or Water Rescue. Finally the camp offers Trek Safely and Leave No Trace instructions if you are interested.
